Lyn R. Zbinden began his career in automotive design with AM General creating, in 1979, the original ‘HUMMER’, after Renault purchased AM General. Subsequently, Lyn was selected to design for Renault Sport F1 in Viry-Châtillon, Paris, France, where he specialised in aerodynamics. He began his career in glass/ceramics engineering with Saturn Corporation upon his return to the U.S., where he designed the first Saturn windshield and backlite.
Born in 1936 in Helsinki/Finland out of high school he spent his 1956 and 1957 years in the Army (of which he is a reserve officer) and after that travelled the world, learn several languages and made a lot of experience. He joined the authoritative Finnish magazine Tekniikan Maailma as apprentice 1959 and after 30 years he became its Editor in chief through 1999. He has been member of COTY 1967-2000 and its General Secretary from 1996 -2000, member of COTY 1967-2000. He is the Chairman of the Automobile Historical Club in Finland and a Member of the Guild of Motoring Writers (UK).
