Jaguar will not wait for the Parisian "Mondial de l'Automobile" motor show (opening gates early next October) to officially unveil its trend setting Jaguar XE. The all-new mid-size sport sedan will make its world premiere in London on September 8th, according to a company statement.
According to Jaguar's officers their XE will be the first entry in the BMW 3 Series segment to feature «an aluminium-intensive monocoque, with lightweight aluminium accounting for 75 per cent of the structure». Its new body structure was first showcased at last year IAA in Frankfurt with the C-X17 SUV Concept.
The all-new modular architecture is the fifth generation of body structures developed by Jaguar applying its own bonded-and-riveted aluminium technology inspired by aerospace applications. The weight to stiffness ratio achieved «ensures that the XE is the most fuel-efficient Jaguar yet with fuel consumption and CO2 emissions on the NEDC combined cycle of over 75mpg and less than 100g/km respectively» claims the British maker.

Mi ha molto stupito leggere nella newsletter di “Chi è Chi” le considerazioni firmate dalla Redazione a proposito della notizia pubblicata dall’autorevole periodico tedesco “Magazine Manager” a proposito di contatti che ipotizzerebbe un matrimonio tra Fiat e Volkswagen.
La Newsletter, che raggiunge tutto il mondo dell’automobile e del suo giornalismo specializzato, scrive: «Che giornata! Passata a smentire una “palla” colossale! Ma lo vedete Marchionne dipendere da Winterkorn oppure a colloquio deferente con Piech? O peggio ancora, Piech che incontra in segreto, gli Elkann, come carbonari e Marchionne non lo sa? Se dovesse succedere, giuro, crederò al sesso degli angeli. No, Marchionne è un leader puro, nelle sue sole mani la bacchetta del comando, è grande per questo, per quell’assunzione di responsabilità che pochi man bussiness possiedono.
A “Manager Magazin” pensavano che fosse il 1 aprile, bisognerà spiegarglielo che siamo quasi in agosto, il mese in cui Fiat e Chrysler formalizzeranno la fusione. Che cosa può essere successo? Una speculazione, un dispetto, non a Fiat che ha visto il suo titolo salire in borsa. Oppure semplicemente qualche frase colta malamente, anche questi grandi uomini a volte parlano allo scoperto, tipo “ se voglio io questi li compero” o “ se mi stufo vendo tutto”. E qualche orecchio teso si è buttato, invece che dagli scogli, sullo scoop. Se era intenzionale, aveva previsto tutto, anche di farsi molto male.
Car Styling will be back starting July 26th, in Japan. After four years since the last issue 196 was published in May 2010, the car design magazine established by Akira Fujimoto in 1973 will take a new format and a temporary new title: "MotorFan Extra Car styling Vol.1".
The choice reflects the regulations applied in Japan by the publishers' wholesale association. Indeed the new issue is classified as a "Mook", that is "Magazine+Book". That is a periodical book.
Through the Internet revolution and the economy downturn in most advanced economies many successful magazines had to stop publication and the renaissance of Car Styling is both an act of love by many car design enthusiasts and professionals as well as an act of faith by the publishers and editors.
The New Car Styling will have a new format, a new design and a content aiming at a wider public, appealing to design enthusiasts and students in the first place and, through them, the design professionals. It will be lighter and more affordable.
Hironobu Matsunaga, who was appointed Chief Editor of Car Styling back in 2009, has been confirmed in his role and I will continue to be the European Editor. Akira Fujimoto will continue to be President of Car Styling.

MRS BERTONE SAYS SHE WILL NOT GIVE UP.
Stile Bertone is in state of bankruptcy and is up for sale, either as a whole or in parts.
After some eight months of pointless administration no credible buyer or plan have been to save Stile Bertone have been submitted to the court.
Sources close to the procedure are simply speechless when asked to describe and comment the developments through the past six months and some of them go as far as to suggest that they would not be surprised if those who sailed the company onto the rocks will offer to buy what is left of it, through an intermediary from Switzerland or else, for few pennies.
The 300 kph Jaguar F-type Project 7 that took Goodwood’s Festival of Speed by storm late last June is not just a one-off two-seater roadster for the show but a real proposition for a limited production of one of the most exclusive Jaguar of this millennium. Designed under the leadership of Ian Callum to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the mythical Jaguar D-type (as the distinctive D-type-inspired fairing positively witnesses) Project 7 will be a multiple of craftsmanship art reproduced 250 by the recently established Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Operation department and according to its Managing Director John Edwards, it will be «a fully road-legal two-seater roadster»
Daihatsu Unveils new generation Copen.
Daihatsu has undergone a full model change for its COPEN ultra compact convertible two-seater sports. The new generation introduces a new “design strategy” banking on alternative styles that actually dress the car structure with different body panels. This is in order to «provide customers with new value for mini vehicles, such as impressive driving performance and vehicles that allow the driver to express individuality».
Daihatsu has indeed opted for a new perspective and new approach for of both development/production and operation.
The project call for a common framework structure, called D-Frame, to be equipped with alternative interior and exterior components.
