Through the past five years I have been running a blog dedicated to car design with an experimental approach. I was eager to establish a bridge with the design community and to gain experience on the web.

Now, time has come for a new project with broader goals, focuses and reach.

The goal is to establish a very lively «Café littéraire» where professional designers, design educators and students, car and design enthusiasts meet, show their ideas, discuss design matters and trends, contribute with their own reports and stories to the development of a modern design culture, with past experiences and inputs from different cultures.

It is a club, a circle, a café litteraire, for automotive design professionals, students and enthusiasts getting together. From different corners of the world and at different time but with a common interest. We are you and you can be us, if you share our way, our "style", of staying together and of share common interests, passions, experiences.

 Through its first year the ADCI is open and free to all. We decline all sort of advertising and is not soliciting contributions. It is free and independent.

Then it will be up to all members to keep it alive and kicking.

Editors and columnists are not just veteran or novice journalists and writers but also industry insiders, designers, students, teachers, experts and enthusiasts.

Arimoto portrait 4x4

Born in 1954, Tokyo, Masatsugu Arimoto studied industrial design at Chiba University. After five-year experience as a commercial vehicle designer he became an assistant chief editor of Car Styling magazine. In 1989 he became freelance design journalist and has been working for various automobile and design magazines and web site. He is also acting as a jury of Japan's Car of the Year, a jury of Automotive Brand Contest organized by German Design Council and a design expert of World Car Design of the Year.

Publisher and editor Costas Cavvathas was born in Athens, Greece in 1939. Studied in Greece and in England taking a two-year course in Mechanical Engineering. At the beginning of his career, he worked as an editor on automobile and technology issues in a number of Greek newspapers and as a chief editor of the “Auto Express” Car magazine. For many years he worked in the Foreign News Department of “Kathimerini” daily newspaper

In 1970, in association with his wife Sofia, he founded “Technical Press S.A. and launched 19 magazines, including the famous “4Troxoi” and, later on, the 87.7 FM “EN LEFKO” (Carte Blanche) radio station.

Giancarlo Perini 180

Born in Milano in 1944, Giancarlo Perini graduated from the Turin University is the European editor of Car Styling since 1974 and contributed to many publications around the world. His reports have been translated in twelve languages. In his early years worked for Style Auto magazine (1967-1970) before joining Italdesign as the right hand man of Giorgetto Giugiaro. In charge of public relation, communication and promotions he established and managed the Industrial Design division (now Giugiaro Design) and contributed to a number of projects, including the Alfa Romeo New York Taxi and the Lotus Elite.

Mauri Salo cut
Born in 1936 in Helsinki/Finland out of high school he spent his 1956 and 1957 years in the Army (of which he is a reserve officer) and after that travelled the world, learn several languages and made a lot of experience. He joined the authoritative Finnish magazine Tekniikan Maailma as apprentice 1959 and after 30 years he became its Editor in chief through 1999. He has been member of COTY 1967-2000 and its General Secretary from 1996 -2000, member of COTY 1967-2000. He is the Chairman of the Automobile Historical Club in Finland and a Member of the Guild of Motoring Writers (UK).

Lyn 180

Lyn R. Zbinden began his career in automotive design with AM General creating, in 1979, the original ‘HUMMER’, after Renault purchased AM General. Subsequently, Lyn was selected to design for Renault Sport F1 in Viry-Châtillon, Paris, France, where he specialised in aerodynamics. He began his career in glass/ceramics engineering with Saturn Corporation upon his return to the U.S., where he designed the first Saturn windshield and backlite.
